- you aint ever had a friend like me
Just something for fun

- March 29th, 2016 - dead sea
Another future title card from The Djinni. I had a lot of fun painting the Dead Sea mud, but it was hard to get exactly the effect I wanted…

- March 29th, 2016 - ‘The Djinni’ Chapter Cards
A pair of illustrations from January. The hope is that one day they’ll accompany chapters of my work-in-progress online serial, “The Djinni”. I just have to write and draw the rest of it, haha!
For the backgrounds, I used real photographs that I took on my most recent trip to Israel–the trip that inspired this project, in fact!

- March 1st, 2016 - Solomon’s Study
I remembered I had the sketch for this lying around since September and I finally got around to coloring it haha…
I don’t usually draw detailed backgrounds but this particular location stuck out to me when I was doing planning for The Djinni, so I wanted to draw it. This little alcove is Solomon’s study, buried deep in a secret passageway below the remains of the temple he built. He’s spent most of his time here for the last 3,000 years and would like to keep it that way.

- December 30th, 2015 - final form
I’m not participating in National Novel Writing Month this year, but I am going to try to use November to make some progress on my current most promising original project–whether through art or through writing. I’ve been posting character designs from it infrequently, and now it has a title: The Djinni. I hope to post this story on the internet someday, but it’s still in its infancy right now.
This design won’t become relevant until a wayse into the story, but it never hurts to have a design handy for when I get there.
Completed 11.10.15
- November 13th, 2015 - grandparent doodles
I visited my grandparents over the weekend. They both have very distinctive styles so I decided to draw them
Completed 8.6.15
- August 7th, 2015 - dave
This started as a doodle but quickly evolved into a full-blown piece ahaha
Completed 7.11.15
- August 7th, 2015 - Souvenir T-shirts
I’ve brought back at least one touristy t-shirt from Israel every time I’ve gone. One day I had the idea of drawing King David wearing my City of David shirt and one thing led to another. Naomi got my Masada shirt, while Samir was stuck with one of those Hebrew Coca-Cola shirts.
The background is a picture I took in Jerusalem.
Completed 6.3.15
- June 4th, 2015 - Tzfat
I’ve been meaning to draw something like this since I took this photo in Tzfat last summer. It was tough to get the lighting and perspective just right.
Completed 5.4.15
- May 5th, 2015 - mineral people
With the popularity of Steven Universe, I took it upon myself to draw some characters inspired by less well-known minerals. It was fun trying to capture the look of each mineral in the characters’ hair, though I think I succeeded more with Mesolite in that regard. Mesolite is based on a sample that I own, while with Ulexite I tried to capture the optical properties of polished ulexite (often called “TV Rock”).
