A collection of my Original Art

for my next trick, I’ll make these shadows disappear
I got really excited about Persona 5 but instead of drawing actual fanart I ended up drawing the protagonist of my persona fan project in a campy phantom thief/magician outfit, whoops

Decided to draw a character I haven’t drawn in Literal Ages
I tried to stick to the initial design, but I couldn’t help changing a few things here and there. This was also the first time I’d ever drawn a full-body shot of the character, and I spent a while trying to decide what kind of shoes he should wear

- November 13th, 2014 - Engine Jones
It’s been a while since I last drew something for the Modern Strange Cowboy series. Maybe one day I’ll update the other three of them to reflect my current style (though at this rate I’ll have to do that every couple of years)
I’ve been struggling to get together a solid design for Engine for several years. This is actually the second time I’ve drawn him; after deciding I hated my first attempt I swept it under the rug for a bit. I’m glad I did, because I’m really really happy with this design. Over the years I had started compiling a bunch of characters whom I wanted to draw from while designing him (Tarrlok from The Legend of Korra, Silva from Shaman King, and most recently Mink from Dramatical Murder: re:connect) and though you can tell I drew a ton from Mink, I think I managed to make Engine stand apart from his influences.

- September 20th, 2014 - Self Portrait
I figured it was about time for a new self portrait/re-assessment of how I draw myself, because my previous avatar doesn’t even remotely resemble me anymore (not that she ever did or was intended to). The old one is a design that hasn’t really changed much since its inception in high school, and now that I’m a college graduate I decided it was time for something new.
This time, I tried to really draw something that looked like me. I cut my hair before I went to Japan a year ago and I’ve been trying to keep it short ever since. I never used to draw myself with glasses (even though I wore them all through high school) so I tried to capture those down to the exact structure of the frames.
When I designed the old avatar (and indeed, every avatar I’ve ever drawn for myself before this) it wasn’t supposed to be a self-portrait as much as an idealization; that is, I drew myself how I thought I should look, or how I looked in my head. It was a character that could represent “me” rather than a real portrait. Since I’ve changed my physical appearance so much, I couldn’t look at the old avatar and still see myself. So that’s why I drew this I guess

- July 29th, 2014 - A Map to the Future
It’s taken me a bit to post this because in the first version I had used a stock image that required written permission for offsite use; I asked for permission but it’s been two weeks without a peep from the stock’s owner. I decided to make a variation that I could put elsewhere, and the original can be viewed here
in the context of the story this picture is impossible in ways that rend my heart but whatever I draw what I want

- May 22nd, 2014 - Minotauro
Our final assignment for Greek Mythology class was to creatively interpret a myth, so I decided to draw an existing character of mine (from the Persona project). His character in general was inspired by the song “Minotauro” which I am… pretty sure is comparing an office worker in his cubicle to the Minotaur in the labyrinth. My Spanish is rusty. But that’s what I decided to go with for the illustration.
It might also be important to note that in the project he’s a Japanese “salaryman” office worker who feels all the more trapped in his dead-end job thanks to Japanese social mores, specifically those that favor the group over the individual. He wants to move on from the company, but does that make him selfish…?

- December 18th, 2013 - Press OK to Summon
Promotional art for a project I hope to launch sometime next year, “Persona Mobile”. It’s a fanwork in that it draws heavily on Atlus’ Persona concept, but it’s original in that the characters and plot are my own creation.
Confession I actually started working on this illustration in September and have been chipping away at it bit by bit

I’m very excited for Pokemon Black and White 2! The new female protagonist for BW2 is cute, but I didn’t really like her hair, so I decided to come up with a different design. You might be seeing more of her in the future, who knows
