A collection of my Fanart
- dmmd: jellyfish prince
Kicked off the new year by cleaning up a drawing from november. Like with dream on, dreamer, I wanted to try emulating the style of official art from the game (but this time I did it a little more liberally).
(yeah I know I used practically the same background as per aspera ad astra, but shush)

- January 13th, 2015 - PKMN: per aspera ad astra
I hadn’t intended to put this much effort into coloring this when I first drew it, ehehe…
I beat the main story in Omega Ruby and I’m working my way through the Delta Episode now. I can’t believe that game’s been out for just over a month. It usually takes me much longer to get through a Pokemon game…

- December 28th, 2014 - PKMN: Steven + Minerals series
Geology and Pokemon are things I care way too much about, so of course I’m a fan of a Pokemon character who loves rocks as much as I love rocks. I’ve had a weakness for Steven Stone since before I became interested in geology, but now that I’m a graduated geology minor, I feel like I connect with Steven on an emotional level. Rocks are the best.
The basic idea for this was Steven doing a sort of celebrity photoshoot for a magazine, using his rock collection as props. I don’t know where the idea came from, but you bet I was compelled to draw it. I wanted to contrast a sort of luxury, “sexy” setup with 100% real rock facts, so that it ends up sort of looking like an advertisement for the (otherwise kinda mundane) rocks. I think I succeeded, or at least, I like how they came out. I might draw more, since these were fun to do, and any excuse to draw Steven and brush up on rock facts is a good excuse in my book.
The rocks he’s holding are based on samples from my personal rock collection, and two of the rocks on the sheets in the Chalcedony pic are also from my collection. I had to draw the Chalcedony largely from memory, though.

- November 28th, 2014 - PKMN: Departure from Littleroot Town
Something I drew for ORAS’s release. It’s been a long six months of waiting and hyping, but we’re finally here.
I’ve already waxed poetic about how much Ruby and Sapphire meant to me so I’ll spare you once again (though I suppose if you’re really interested, the blurb I put in the artist’s comments on dA pretty much sums it all up)
For this, I wanted to draw the heroines of both my Hoenn stories: Laura, who started her journey ten years ago, and Mae, who is starting hers now. Both of them are setting out from the same Littleroot town (from the same house, even; Mae moved into Laura’s old house), and their journeys are going to intersect in interesting ways as the story progresses. I’m almost as excited to write about them as I am to play the game itself.

- November 22nd, 2014 - PKMN: Coming soon…!!
Yet another fanart for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. The game isn’t even out yet haha (but it comes out on the 21st!! so soon!!)
I also made an alternate version of this that goes with a story I plan to write ahaha… (click the thumbnail below to enlarge)
Completed 11.17.14
- November 18th, 2014 - dmmd: Mink
I wasn’t originally intending to put so much effort into this but here we are
Mink is my favorite love interest from dmmd (tied with Clear, anyway). I’ll spare you the long-winded explanation of why I’m drawn to such a
garbagecontroversial character and instead say that I like his design/storyline in dmmd re:connect a lot better, but I decided to draw his original design on a whim. The dreds were hard to get the hang of at first but I like how they came out.I think the most fun part of this was making the background actually
Textures used: Concrete Wall 3 by mdpratt ; Concrete Basement Wall Texture by FantasyStock. The “scratch” logo in the background is from the game

- November 9th, 2014 - dream on, dreamer
Lately my interests have been Pokemon ORAS and Dramatical Murder, and there is no inbetween
I’ve actually been drawing a whole lot of DMMD fanart over the past month but nothing quite portfolio-quality (or portfolio-appropriate, given the source material ehehe…). I have a mostly-ironic-but-also-completely-serious love for this franchise, even though I’ve only seen the anime adaptation and a Mink route playthrough on youtube. One day I’ll get around to playing the game myself…
For this piece I tried to imitate the sort of airy feel of the DMMD official art, with light colors and use of gradients. I’m pleased with the end result, even though for most of it I was making up the shading as I went.
Completed 11.2.14
- November 2nd, 2014 - Ace Trainer Duo
Decided to give some old characters new designs yet again! I used the new Ace Trainer designs from Pokemon ORAS as a jumping-off point and tried to design my own outfits from there.
These two are age 26-27 by now. Will I ever stop designing older and older versions of these characters? probably never
Completed 10/26/14
- October 30th, 2014 - PKMN: Brawly
Something simple, but I’m pleased with how it came out. I’d done the sketch in July and forgotten about it, but recently decided to clean it up a bit and add color. Brawly was one of my favorite characters in the original Ruby and Sapphire games. Still excited for the remakes!!!
Completed 10/14/14
- October 28th, 2014 - PKMN: 41 Days until Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire!
I signed up to participate in the Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Countdown on tumblr! Every participant was assigned a day between 1 and 50, and their task was to draw something related to ORAS with text saying “___ days until ORAS/etc”. My assigned day was Day 41–today. (The game comes out on November 21st). Please check out the other submissions as well; with over 600 artists participating, it’s an incredibly diverse group of talents and styles.
I’ve already gushed a little about how much Ruby and Sapphire meant to me as a kid, so I’m so happy that I was able to participate in the countdown to the remakes. Steven Stone was always my favorite character (and my first anime crush) so I knew I had to draw something with him for my day.
For the background/text box I tried to incorporate the feel of the original games with the background used in cave battles and the NPC speech text bubble. I even went to the trouble of tracking down the font used in the games! I also wanted to incorporate things we know about the new games, such as the importance of mega stones (the four marble-like mega stones pictured here are all for Pokemon found in Ruby and Sapphire), the silver Beldum which will be given away when the game is released, and a Sableye, which is going to get a new mega evolution in ORAS. And of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to draw Steven as the rock-loving nerd he is.
I actually drew this back in September, but was not allowed to post it anywhere before the countdown blog put it up.
