- PKMN: Explorers of Time
Back in august I revisited a couple of older characters, and recently I’ve been replaying the game they’re from, so I’m back to drawing them again. I refined both designs a little and added two alternate designs; for Hamlet I added how he appears at the start of the story, and for Dusknoir I added how he appears after the main part of the story is over.

- June 4th, 2015 - Snake Eater
After finishing Metal Gear Solid 2, we moved right along to 3. I’m really enjoying the contrast of the game’s setting and its characters–it’s a serious game about the cold war, which also features a man who controls bees and whatever the heck this is. Also its theme song is catchy.
I drew Snake in a tuxedo as a reference to a silly in-game conversation about Bond movies, but then discovered that he can actually wear a tuxedo disguise in the game. What hasn’t Hideo Kojima thought of?

I’ve been watching a friend play through the Metal Gear Solid games. Military espionage isn’t usually my genre but these games are so over the top and endearing, I’ve found myself getting really invested in the characters and story. I decided to draw Snake (MGS) and Raiden (MGS2) on a whim.
Snake has a lot of features I don’t usually draw (chiseled jaw, facial hair, sharp nose, stress lines) so it was interesting trying to envision him in my drawing style. Raiden, on the other hand, was right back to my prettyboy comfort zone.
When I was coloring I decided to do a study of Yoji Shinkawa‘s style, and I’m overall pleased with the results. I used a couple of ink brushes in photoshop to achieve a similar effect Shinkawa gets with a physical brush pen. I’d like to try using this sort of style again in the future, maybe even with a real pen.

Another in this series; I was going to make a fourth one but I didn’t like how the sketch came out for that one so I’m holding off for now
The bismuth he’s holding is based on a sample that I own. It was fun to draw!

The other day I wasn’t sure what to draw and a friend of mine suggested I draw these two’s first meeting. What I did not expect was going the whole nine yards with this, but in the end I’m glad I did.

- March 1st, 2015 - PKMN: Just be….
Been working on developing a Pokemon OC I’ve had for a long time. I decided not to retcon a large portion of my earliest stories about her–not because they’re any good (they’re not; they’re about as good as you’d expect from a 12 year old) but because they became central to her development as the years went on.
It took Laura a long time to figure out she was aromantic–rather, it was a while before she learned that a word existed to describe the way she felt.
The most fun part of this was doing the backgrounds in the photos, I think.

Finally got around to drawing that protagonist. Persona 5 looks incredible so far. I know we have like, 1 actual trailer. But I like what I am seeing
I have actually drawn the protagonist before, when he was first revealed 6 months ago. We had a very different idea of him then
